We woke up at 4 AM Monday morning. Kevin's dad took us to the airport (very nice of him!). US Airways check in was a breeze, but Kevin left a half full water bottle in his backpack (silly goose...).
We had a "delicious" breakfast in the airport before we boarded:
I had some nasty fried rice with eggs. It was really an appropriate breakfast. Also they served coffee in a strangely tall glass.
Shortly after, we boarded a flight for Charlotte, NC. Tim wasn't able to sit with us because our neighbor refused to trade with him. However, it was okay because he was sandwiched between two pretty ladies.
LOL
The trip was very short and I slept through most of it. Once we landed, the fun began. I was able to share in a fine Southern tradition - consuming Bojangles. This restaurant is a throwback to my childhood, and Tim must now admit that he loved the fries. Kevin bought something at the California Pizza Kitchen.
.
After a short layover, we were able to board our flight to Madrid. Unfortunately, the fates weren't on our side. We had a 1.5 hour layover on the tarmac.
Kevin wants to leave...
The food on the plane was delicious and we had some excellent beverages as well. We spent most of the trip watching Dexter on Kevin's iPad.
After 8 hours, we landed in Madird... Finally... Customs was a breeze - I'm pretty sure they didn't even look at my passport. We then grabbed a metro line to Plaza del Sol in downtown Madrid, near our Hostel.

Checking in was also a breeze. Kevin got a chance to show off his Spanish, which was most impressive.
After a quick shower, we were off to explore the city....

I will write about our actual exploration tomorrow morning because I'm tired...

Haven't heard much about the fourth musketeer. Has he forgotten your motto "all for one and one for all" and gone off on his own?
